Ministering Deliverance to the Captive

Ministering deliverance

Jesus Christ shares His Authority with all Christians. Christians must learn to walk in the authority the Jesus Christ has delegated. In Matthew 28:18-19 Jesus tells us that He has been given all authority and power. He then tells the believer to go and make disciples.

Matthew 28:18-19: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

In order to make disciples, the ministry of deliverance has to be at the forefront. This is simply due to the fact that when a person comes to the Lord they were once in the world and only know that ways of the world thereby they are full of the god of this world. A person that becomes a Christian is a candidate for deliverance. The demons must be confronted and driven out. But first, the new believer has to realize that he has these demons. This is primarily accomplished through the teaching of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit working in the heart of the believer to show them their need for Jesus. When this supernatural spiritual act occurs the person may even manifest the demon that needs to be cast out. This can happen in church or out of church.

When a demon is confronted they will manifest their character. The person that is receiving deliverance may have thought all along that this manifestation was “this is the way I am”, however , this is not the person but an evil spirit. When the evil spirit is commanded to go in the name of Jesus Christ the person will receive deliverance and relief from the demon.

Other factors must be present prior to the demon leaving and the person receiving deliverance. First of all the deliverance candidate needs to be born again. And unbeliever is not a candidate for deliverance due to the fact that they have no defense against future infestations of demons or defending themselves against the attacks of demons. This defense can only be accomplished in the name of Jesus which is only authorized to be used by a person that is born again.

Second, the person that is to receive deliverance must be honest with themselves and the person that will be praying deliverance over them. If honesty is not present the person will not get deliverance, cause the demons know if you are just full of fun and games.

Third, the person must renounce all known and unknown activity that has caused demon infestation such as the occult and use of drugs. This is done by verbally saying “I renounce the occult and use of drugs etc”. Sometimes while a person is renouncing this activity they will begin to receive deliverance without the minister saying anything. This is mainly due to the person letting go of these things by an act of their will.

Fourth, the person receiving deliverance should show that they want the demon out by taking deep breaths and breathing or coughing these spirits out. Spirit is breath and demons leave in this manner. The person should be careful not to hyperventilate when taking too many deep breaths. If the person begins to become dizzy chances are this is not a demonic manifestation (but could be) but an evidence of the person hyperventilating.

When the person receiving deliverance begins to show signs of the deliverance the minister should continue to press the spirits by commanding them to leave in the name of Jesus. Some deliverance can be mild while other deliverances are violent. Believers have authority to command the demons to leave in a peaceful manner and not wretch the believer.
