Doorways of sin
Sin is detrimental to the life of a Christian and will snuff out the Fire of the Holy Ghost in the life of a believer. The devil knows this and works with wreckless abandon to continue to ensnare the believer at any opportunity that he is given. Committing sin on a regular basis without thinking about the consequences is a dangerous practice as a believer and should be avoided. The enemy is awaiting his opportunity to pounce on you.
1Peter 5:8: Be sober , be vigilant: because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.
Quick repentance from sin should be practiced by every believer. When we delay our repentance we give the devil a stronger foothold in our lives. The enemy has a roadmap for us to walk down and we must chose his road or the “straight and narrow”. The Grace of God is shielding and protecting us, however, we must not trample of the grace the the Lord has extended to us.
We must realize that the only time that we are safe from the attack of the evil one is when we are in direct fellowship with the Lord. Living in sin will cause the believer to be out of fellowship with the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 10:8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and shoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
The Christian that continues to commit the same sin over and over will break the hedge of protection the the Lord placed us to keep us from the attacks of the devil.
The promises of God are extended to us as Christians and will work in our lives as we are obedient to the Lord and keep His ways.
1 Kings 3:14: And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
In the book of Psalms we see Psalm 91 where the Lord shows that he will protect those that love Him and keep His ways.
Psalms 91:14,16: Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name… With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Staying away from sin shows that we love the Lord and are attempting to obey him and keep His ways.
John 15:10: If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
We can rest assured that if we abide in the love of God, nothing will be able to get to us and harm us. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
