Christian Sexual Purity
The Bible shows that the Lord wants sexual purity to be a part of a Christian’s life. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:3: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication. Since this is such an important subject to God then we should certainly consider this to be important in the life of a Christian.
We live in a day where sexual promiscuity is rampant. Even among young people that should be on playgrounds running and having a good time are preoccupied with sexual thoughts and activities. Christian parents must continue to show an example of sexual purity as well as attempting to teach their young children concerning this important subject.
A Christian Parent can remind their young adult to try and stay away from situations that may compromise their sexual purity. For example: Avoid being by themselves with a “date” in a parked car or in a house where there is no other adult present. A child can also be encouraged to remain active with wholesome type activities such as playing sports or learning to play a musical instrument. Additionally, the young adult student can be motivated to study hard in school be it high school or college and also to participate in church activities. Sometimes young adults need a little coaxing in these areas and they will respond positively. Another area where young adults will need a little guidance is in the media that they choose. A Christian parent should discuss with their young adult the dangers of pornography in all forms, occult and magic in film or movies and violence and sex in movies. These types of media will certainly have a long term effect on the behavior of the young person.
Purity or Chasity is certainly not be an option for a Christian. Paul said in the Bible to “Flee fornication”. We are encouraged as Christians to glorify God in our bodies. All that we do should line up with glorifying God. So we can see that sex outside of marriage does not and will not bring glory to God. The Bible shows that the believer belongs to God and is bought with the price of the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. This means that a Christian should not just operate by what they determine is good or bad. We must pray and seek the will of God to determine what is right for our lives lest we walk around in self-will and self-determination.
